+Art at Blue River

8-session art class for homeschoolers starting in August 2022

Hi, I’m Joni. If you’re a homeschooling mom like me, you focus most of your energy on your core curriculum — Bible, math, reading, science, etc. — and art usually falls through the cracks. This coming August through November, we’re going to have an art class for homeschoolers that you can easily add to your curriculum. That’s why we call it +Art.

It will be led by Mrs. Anna Ryan, an artist and teacher with lots of experience and enthusiasm. We’ll meet every other Friday. We’ll keep it to an hour so you still have time to get other schoolwork done. Get all the details below.

This is also a time for us to fellowship and support each other. I hope you’ll join us!

From our teacher, Mrs. Ryan:

Hello. My name is Anna Ryan, and I am so blessed to come alongside homeschooling families at +Art.

I began my art interest when as a young child in school where I noticed the various colors in the art displayed in the hallways and in all my classrooms. I remember loving and thriving in art, spelling, history and geography. I thank God for all my teachers through the years who have taught and came along side me to make me the artist that I am today. I love children and I take such joy in seeing their eyes light up when they create their own masterpieces!

Over the past 40 years I have taught art and art design to all age groups and ability levels in a variety of settings including homeschooling, workshops, art parties, one-on-one & large groups, women’s retreats and children’s ministries. It’s also been my joy to serve as VBS Art Director at several churches over the years. Currently I’m on staff as an art instructor at Raymore Art Studio Co-Op.

As a homeschool mom for more than 15 years, I understand the role of parent educators and the importance of co-op groups. I’m excited to have the opportunity to see your children thrive in the arts.

I have had formal training at College of the Siskiyous (Weed, CA) and San Joaquin Delta College (Stockton, CA), plus numerous workshops, seminars, retreats and freelance classes.

Some of my life verses are: Matt 17:8 “And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only;” 1 Cor. 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God;” and Gal. 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Mrs. Ryan’s biography includes a list of media and techniques she’s used.
